Destroyed My Kernel and Need to Recompile
Hey all,
I was reinstalling Slackware on my Dell Inspiron 6000. I installed Slackware 10.1 and then used slackpkg to upgrade all my packages to 10.2. However, I upgraded my kernel to the 2.6.15.2 kernel so that I could use the wireless card on my computer.
When I used slackpkg to upgrade all my packages, I think it installed another 2.4 kernel. Due to the hardware in my laptop, in the 2.6 series of kernels, my hard drive is /dev/sda. Under 2.4 my hard drive is /dev/hda. Now, I've got LILO pointing to /dev/sda4, yet the kernel is detecting my hard drive as /dev/hda4. When it boots, I get a kernel panic.
Is there anyway I can get in and either reset LILO to look at /dev/hda4 for the kernel image or that I can just recompile my 2.6 kernel so that I can boot again?
Thanks,
Chris Moore
