Dell precision m90 + 2.6.17.7 + acpi

Hi!

I am the owner of a Dell precision m90 ( Core Duo T2600 2.1Ghz) and I cannot have the acpi module loading. I am using slackware-current and a 2.6.17.7 kernel.
I added acpi=on in lilo; but when I do:
# modprobe acpi
FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq (/lib/modules/2.6.17.7/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpufreq.ko): No such device

the file acpi-cpufreq.ko does exist where expected, but I am not sure to understand what that means. Do I have to create devices (/dev/???) somewhere?

Any pointers anyone? I am reading every acpi tutorial I can find and I am still unable to understand what is wrong.

the acpi section of my kernel .config:

ok found it!

I got it:
you cannot rely on 'modprobe acpi'
you have to do 'modprobe speedstep_centrino' and modprobe the other modules (fan, processor etc...) by hand.

Would Anybody know a way to blacklist this module?

Now compiling user space programs...

Thanks,

Patrick
