deleting kernels
Hi,
I am running 2.6.16.18 and work very well, better thatn 2.4.32 and 2.6.13 that are sitting in my slack box. It is safe to delete these old kernels? and it so, what would I need to delete and do to safely be rid of them?
Thanks

If the new kernel is working well and you have no use for the old ones, just delete them from /boot. You can also free up space by deleting their sources as well. /usr/src/<versions>

Don't forget the modules under /lib/modules/<version>
Then you might want to take any reference to them out of lilo.conf

well, i think it's better to keep the 2.4.x kernel for emergency (in case the 2.6.x kernel blowed up after upgrading some critical packages)

You also have to delete them from your /boot partiton, too. But It's wise to have at least two kernels to choose from. You never know.
