dcopserver issue

Hey.

When running k3b, kvirc I get this error:

could not read network connection list ~/.DCOPserver_master_0

please check that the "dcopserver" program is running!

kate won't even start. I assume the issue is the same with other kdm related apps. I'm running Slackware 10 (full install). I have no idea how to solve this as I don't even know what it means.
Any help will be appreciated.

Regards.

For those of you who might need to know, doing:

su -c "chown $WHO:users /home/$WHO/.ICEauthority" exit

where $WHO is the user, did the trick.
