Database connection through openvpn broken after latest current update

Latest updates left me unable to connect through vpn with my sql tool to databases. The scenario is as follows:
I start openvpn connection with remote location, obtain ip from remote router on tap device. Then I can ping devices on the other side, connect successfully to PCs via vnc and manage devices like LAN printers through www, but I can't trigger a connection to remote database (Firebird or Oracle). My favourite tool (Orbada) gives me connection error in an instant ("unable to complete network request[...]"). It seems to look for the defined host on physical interface only, completely ignoring tap device.
To be sure, I checked about twenty out of my +200 defined connections, none of them work. I've been using them for years, so spelling mistakes can be safely ruled out.
I thought it was an error on Orbada side, but tried DBeaver and Squirrel-sql with the same result.
I tried different method of obtaining ip address - ip command vs ifconfig command, dhcp vs manual, to no avail.
Out of options, I unearthed old IBOConsole for Windows, installed it and ran through Wine. To my amusement, it worked, but I would really prefer to use native Unix apps, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the logs of Orbada? Have you tried rebuilding it against any newer libraries in -current? It's possible one of the updates partially broke the program.

Got it partially working. I haven't done literally anything since yesterday but Dbeaver is up and running. Orbada still doesn't work and since it doesn't produce any logs that I know of, I still have no idea why. I think I'll just send the memo to its developer.
Thanks for the input.
