darkstar login?


what is this on linux slackware 9.0 i just installed and it wants darkstarlogin and password? how am i supposed to know what they are?

Login. "Darkstar" is just the default name of the machine, like "localhost". (Its a Grateful Dead thing).

If you didn't create a user during the install, log in as "root" using the password you created.

Then be sure to create another user with the "adduser" command.

If you're looking to change your hostname ("Darkstar"), look in your /etc/hosts file and /etc/HOSTNAME file. Change those, reboot, and you can name your box just about anything you want

or just type "hostname [new name]"

Just typing hostname though doesn't change the hostname permanantly though; just until reboot, correct?
