cvs help

Hi, I first posted this question here but didn't get any help so I'm reposting it here. Hope that's ok mods??

Anyways the problem I have is this, I want to enable 3d support for the Radeon IGP 340M card on my laptop, this article gives instructions on how to do this.

When I run the command
Code:

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@dri.freedesktop.org:/cvs/dri login
I am asked for the password and I hit enter as per instructions. The terminal just hangs for a few minutes before giving a warning about being "timed out".

I then run the second command:
Code:

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@dri.freedesktop.org:/cvs/dri co xc
which just hangs and again times out. This happens for all the other commands too.

I have a default Slack 10 install, upgraded to current. I have never used cvs before so the problem is here but I don't know where to start.

I appreciate any help. Thanks,

Karol

Do you have a firewall setup? It could be blocking CVS access, causing a time out.

I'm in a college which does have a firewall of some sort but the admins are so useless they don't even know what ports are blocked. Thanks for that, was hoping it would have nothing to do with the damn firewall.
