does anyone know of a slackware 10.2 customised installation dvd that will install a 2.6.. kernel and kde 3.5...as default, as its now doing my head in trying to upgrade the kernel properly, ive been trying most of the week to do this and get ipw2200 working, but i keep getting it wrong along the way and have to reinstall. slackware 11 frezzes my pc even with the 2.6 packages installed from the /extra folder
Installing the 2.6 kernel is a matter of selecting it from the menu, there is no special setup that should be required. KDE 3.5 is the only DE that Slackware includes anymore (GNOME has been dropped, and the only other options are smaller WMs like Fluxbox), and is it's default GUI.
As for the issue with Slackware 11 locking up, you should be figuring out what the problem is with that rather than using outdated software. There is no reason Slackware 11 shouldn't work if 10.2 does, not much has really changed. So it must be a relatively simple problem.

if ylou are tryuing to compile a new 2.6 kernel, try copying the PAT's config file, to start with. tehn do make oldconfig then as usual make xconfig and proceed.
since we copy pats config file this may include all the necessary drivers, (more unwanted stuffs tooo)first try chopping most unwanted stuffs in a minimal way, then once yu get a working kernel, copy that working config file to somewhere (so that you have a working config with you) and try removing all unwanted stuffs later!! so all this in a progressive way http://rkrishna.tp.googlepages.com/slackerbasics#26ker
Hi, I would like to remaster slackware 11.0. I have found info about remastering (CUSS, etc) but I haven't found anywhere about how to include my kernel on installation cd. Is there any info? I run slackware with kernel 2.6.20.1 and I would like to have this kernel on installation cd or to update the installation cd when there is a new kernel. I have tried to copy bzImage, system.map and config in cd but it didn't work. Thank you!!
