Custom kernel vulnerabilities verus Slack pre-compiled

Obviously you get more a little more performance (or peace of mind) when you recompile your own custom kernel. But when there are vulnerabilities found and Slackware releases new kernels; and how do I find out if I am vulnerable with a custom kernel?

Look at the changelog for the new kernel and see if the problem was with a module that you are using. If so then you are vulnerable and you need to upgrade or if it is with some generic module you have no choice to use like IDE disk support then you upgrade.
