cursing ncurses ... reverted to Slackware 14.0 version of ncurses 5.9

I started debugging a screen error in the Hessling editor (THE) on Slackware64-current and finally found a bug report from someone using SUSE with the same problem.

His fix was to revert ncurses 5.9 back to an earlier version and this also worked for me.

The ncurses 5.9 of Slackware 14.0 is very similar to the original 2011-04-04 version and works well with THE.

http://www.gnu.org/software/ncurses/

http://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/ncurses/

But Slackware 14.1 (and current) have an extra 100,000+ lines of code patch.

(Should this still be called ncurses 5.9 ?)

Has anyone else had trouble with older programs breaking on newer versions of ncurses 5.9+?

After building the ncurses package using the newer cumulative patch,

ncurses-5.9-20140308-patch.sh.bz2

my screen problem went away.

ftp://invisible-island.net/ncurses/5.9/

I hope Patrick builds the next ncurses package using this patch or later...
