current with Bluetooth Smart Devices freezing problem

I installed -current (a build from around Feb 20th). The Bluetooth Smart Device I have (two of them, listed below) would either not pair or freeze after 1-2 minutes.

I switched back to proper 14.2, and the installed version of Bluez-5.40 works fine without any issues. I don't think it's the Bluez version as a Live Ubuntu 16.04 on the same hardware uses Bluez-5.41, which operated fine without freezing. It seems some other component(s) are interacting improperly.

Whether or not a related issue was the laptop freezing, is hard to tell. It only seems to happen with my tinkering around in Bluetooth, and hasn't happened since going back to 14.2.

The only other symptom was when I removed bluez-5.43 in -current, and installed 5.41, after the Ubuntu test, when I rebooted X didn't start in runlevel 4 as inittab specified. X did run correctly via startx after login.

The only meaningful log I could find, from syslog:

Quote:
Feb 28 10:56:42 zenbones bluetoothd[7846]: Failed to obtain handles for "Service Changed" characteristic

might be related to the mode switching for the Low Energy power saving, but, that's just a guess. This message came from using a Logitch MX Master, which would operate for 2-3 minutes at most. The crappy Gearhead MBT9950 wouldn't even pair.

Forgot to mention the radio card is a Wifi/Bluetooth combination card, Intel AC 8260.
