cupsd problem on boot


hello,

when i boot my pc i get the error :

Code:
Start cups
cupsd: child exited with status 98!
cups unable to start scheduler
but when i log in with root then and type
Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc/cups start
it's starts perfect no problems at all then but i want it to start at boot because ot wise only me can start it and the box get turned down every they due the loud niss of the box

I would appriciate if any body can help me with the problem

hi there,

i think your cups is started to early in the boot-sequence.
to try you could comment-out the cups-call in /etc/rc.d/rc.M and copy it to /etc/rc.d/rc.local.

hi,
glad it works, you can go with that for a while . but it is not the solution, it's a workaround.
if i were you i would like to know what causes the prob.
there must be something in your boot-sequence after the cups-call that should happen before the cups-call.
but as all works, just keep it in mind ( things todo.....) and take a look at it on a boring day ...

i kow it's yust a temp solotion. But when i have time i'll try to fix it
