Cups will not print
I'm trying to set up a new server including a print server. I set up cups when I first installed and it would print the test page. I recompiled the kernel (slackware 9.1/2.4.22) with standard config (only changing the processor type). Now I can't even get cups to print the test page.
Here is what I have tried so far: 1. checked dmesg---it shows my printer, correct lp0 irq and i/o 2. removed my printer and added it back in 3. removed and reinstalled cups 4. removed lprng and cups and rm /etc/printcap --- reinstalled cups 5. removed cups and updated to 1.1.20 from package 6. Checked to see if cups was running (ps aux ) and use the localhost:631 utility--I did this for every step. cupd seems to be running correctly. The funny thing is that the setup in localhost:631 went smoothly ever time-- when you get to the part where you select the port it gives me the choice "Parallel port #1 (Epson COLOR stylus 740)" Any help would be apreciated! Epson styus is my printer--the jobs do get cue ed but nothing comes out. Thanks Dan |

ln -s `which smbspool` /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb (typing that command won't hurt, even if it already exists) BTW, Do you have created the smb.conf file? Because cups won't print when you haven't got that config file there |
