CUPS server error
I just un-tarred the CUPS package from the Slackware 10 CD.
When I try to go to localhost:631 I get... An error occurred while loading http://localhost:631/: Could not connect to host localhost (port 631) When I try to set up my printer with CUPS I get the following report.... Unable to retrieve the printer list. Error message received from manager: Connection to CUPS server failed. Check that the CUPS server is correctly installed and running. Error: connection refused. When I try to start the CUPS server I get.... Unable to restart print server. Error message received from manager: Unable to find a running CUPS server Any suggestions? |
Like the message said, you need to check if the cupsd service is running. Also check if the firewall is allowing local traffic to port 631.

Check that /etc/rc.d/rc.cups is marked as executable. Once it is, to start CUPS, as root, type
/etc/rc.d/rc.cups start |
