It is a Brother MFC-7420. I'm using the drivers from their website. After deleting it, cups detected it automatically and all I had to do was click on "add printer" to install it. It worked fine on Slackware 11.0. I don't really know when it broke because most of my printing is from evince, which prints fine.

I had a simular problem once, it was caused by missing ghostscript-fonts.
