cups prints from some programs but not from others

Hi,

I have a strange cups problem on -current with cups 1.2.11. I seem to be able to print from some programs (eg. evince, firefox, thunderbird) but not from others (eg. openoffice.org). I cannot print the test page from cups. I have deleted and reinstalled the printer, to no avail. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Mind telling which printer you are using and with what drivers ? Has it worked fine with Slackware 11 or earlier ?

and what does /var/log/cups/error.log say?

I had a simular problem once, it was caused by missing ghostscript-fonts.

It is a Brother MFC-7420. I'm using the drivers from their website. After deleting it, cups detected it automatically and all I had to do was click on "add printer" to install it. It worked fine on Slackware 11.0. I don't really know when it broke because most of my printing is from evince, which prints fine.
