Suddenly a few days ago I could no longer start cups on port 631 on my Slack 11 computer. I got the
Code:
cupsd: Child exited with status 98!
cups: unable to start scheduler.
I changed cupsd.conf to listen to port 632 and it started fine. The thing is, I can't see anything running on port 631 (socklist | grep 631) prior to starting cups. After changing the cupsd.conf and starting, I see cups running on both 632 and 631. So why can't I start it on 631 when I don't see any other process there? (And on a related topic, why do I see it running on 631 even when I have it configured to run on 632. And the fact that it runs on 631 after I start it suggests it is free.)
I did not install or upgrade anything on this computer for a month or so.
Thanks for any ideas,
Brian
