Create sftp user and chroot

Thanks for taking the time to view this thread.

I'm running into problems creating a user and chroot-ing them to a specific folder.

I have created the user jdoe and modified the sshd_config accordingly, as well as set the permissions of the root folder to root:root and the folder I want the user to be jailed in to jdoe:jdoe. Also, I created a folder /var/www/vhost/www.foobar.org/

The permissions of /var/www/vhost are root:root and the permissions of the /var/www/vhost/www.foobar.org are jdoe:jdoe.

The home directory listed in the passwd file for jdoe is /var/www/vhost/www.foobar.org/

The user is able to log in, however they are able to navigate to the root of the system /

What have I missed? Thank you.

After some tinkering I was able to solve the issue myself. I set the permissions to the directory jdoe:sftp-group. Thank you
