create iso file for DVD using mkisofs Slackware10.2
I need some advice on how to create an iso file to
burn on a DVD. I've got a lot of data I need to save in directory /my_data There are several subdirectories under /my_data and about 3 Gigs of stuff. I used a command that always worked for regular CDs: mkisofs -r -J -o /store_iso/mybig.iso /my_data It created a mybig.iso file which I tried to burn onto a DVD, but failed half way through. So I wasted time and ruined a DVD for nothing. Could someone tell me how to create an iso file that will burn onto DVD? Is there a way to test the iso file before attempting to burn it to a DVD? I don't want to ruin more DVDs. I know my LG DVD burner works fine because I've used it to fry DVDs with iso files I downloaded. They all worked. Any information would be most welcome! |
ever tried k3b?
growisofs is what you are looking for ( in ap/dvd-something.tgz ) |
k3b is highly recommended ... that way you don't ruin any more DVDs.
Now, if you still have problems with k3b, then say so. |
