Crazy MOUSE
 

I was wondering if anyone ever has the problem that win they try to get into kde my mouse immidiately goes to the top left corner of my monitor and from thier only moves horizontally. I have a reguler mouse. The kind without a usb. and its not optical.
Could Anyone help me.

I have the same problems! EITHER USB or PS/2 mouse do the same thing. I'm beginning to suspect it's a bug. Apparently, Gnome is the preferred GUI with Slackware (and you "should" use a different XWindows manager if that's the case -- I can't recall if that's "fvwm95" or "ice" or what). I have posted my help request in the "Newbie" section if you want to keep an eye out for someone that "knows" the answer to this...

what's your mouse btw? some new mouse aren't listed if your X is too old.

It's not a bug. It's how you have it configured.

There's a couple of things you can try:

The Biggest thing that shelped me was to manually changed the xf86config file under mouse settings, and change it to:

device "dev/psaux"

as well as device "protocol" "IMPS/2"

Once I did that, and added the Zaxis command at the below link, my crazy mouse was gone.

I don't know about embalmedlenin, but I've reinstalled Slackware till the cows came home; each time reediting and reconfiguring XF86Config as well as other more important stuff like rc.config even. It seems that I've tried EVERY mouse that's offered and no matter how many times I edit XF86Config or run the xf86config tool neither mouse will work when I fire up KDE! In my case, I have 2 mice: one mouse is a Logitech mouse ("First / Pilot Wheel Mse" on the USB port), while the other is a generic PS/2 mouse-ball on the wireless keyboard. Disconnecting one mouse in favor of the other HAS been tried but usually they are both left connected. I suspect that Slackware has a serious bug where KDE and whatever XWindow manger Slackware detirmines to be the "default" to be. Unless I am mistaken, AND I PROBABLY AM!, fvwm95 is the preferred XWindow manager for Gnome, NOT KDE, but Slackware doesn't tell you that. The Slackware install simply highlights fvwm (I could be wrong here too since I can't recall exactly) as the XWindow manager it wants to install regardless what Window client you choose (KDE, Gnome, etc.); and a newbie like me just goes ahead and uses it not knowing that it's probably a bad choice (unless Gnome was chosen). I'm still looking into this suspicion, but in case I'm way off base on this (and I probably am), it is refreshing to know I am NOT the only person having this problem. I'm almost convinced that this is something simple and easy to fix, but I'll be darned to figure out what it is.
