copying directories

I have a directory on my cd-rom. It is the SwareT directory. I want to update, and I know to do this that there is a half-decent thread that says how to do this. What is doesn't say is where the directory should be to run SwareT. Does anybody know where this goes? And if so, how do I get it there from my cd-rw. I have been trying to copy it to my home directory using 'cp', but I get an error message saying:

cp: omitting directory 'SwareT'
#===================================End of Error

Can someone help me out on this, please?

Thanks,
John

Check the permissions on the dir, is it root or a regular user?

EDIT: Err...Forgot...If it is a permissions issue, you'll have to chown on the file/dir

Once this is done...then...

Code:
cp * /home/foo

Did JockVSJock's suggestion fix your issue?
