Console Splash

Hi,

I've spotted a nice penguin at the console top while Slackware (12) is rebooted :-)
How do I retain it there for good?

It usually disappears after some time or "clear" command. I know it has to do something with frame-buffer for console but there are no straight forward instructions for that. I've found 1001 manuals for boot-splash and 0 for console-splash.

So folks, can somebody provide me with instructions of any sort how do I place a picture on top of my console (similar to boot splash)?

Any answer would be appreciated,
Alex.

There are several ways to do it -I've been working alot with such things lately. The simplest thing I've found is a program called fbv (frame buffer viewer). I haven' uploade the sources or package to my site yet, but you can build it yourself quite easily as it doesn't need any kernel patch or extra libs that you don't already have.
I'd recommend you to use the source (rpm) from ALT linux:

http://rpmseek.com/download/ftp://ft...=com&nid=21038

You can also find it by searching rpmseek.com or other places by searching for
'fbv ALT linux'. It's very simple to use and quite versatile. YYou can also use the splash program or fbmngplay from bootsplash in much the same way without kernel patching or boot-time splash.
