Connecting to domain

Hi I'm new to Slackware and i'm trying to connect my pc to a domain. I ran netconfig and set a static IP, netmask and gateway. Is that all I do? I am not being asked to authenticate myself.

Thanks

If you are trying to access a windows share on an AD domain:

Make a folder to mount the share in. As an example, if you make a folder in home called scrapple:

As root,

mount -t cifs //2008 server IP address/2008 server sharename /home/your username/scrapple/sharename -o username=your domain username,domain=domain name,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777

You must use the domain=
Enter your domain password when prompted

If you don't like the command line you can use Dolphin.
