Configuring SMB Printer - Slackware 10.2

Hi,

I am trying to configure a SMB printer that is attached to my Windows XP system. I've had this problem before, but have a working configuration with a different distribution that is working fine.

I have CUPS package loaded on boot. I use the Print Manager from KDE, and login as administrator.

I add printer, style SMB. Set normal account, and enter my user name and password on XP system. Set Workgroup to my WORKGROUP name, set Server to my SERVER name, set printer to my PrinterName, being careful to match all cases.

I select my printer and devier type. Press Next, and it CUPS+Gimp-Print. Press OK, and press Next a few times to give the printer a reasonable name.

From the control panel, I try to print a test page. The page goes from processing to queued states, and stalls there.

I am confident on the network configuration because it matches exactly a different configuration booted from the same PC.

A bit new to slackware, so I'm wondering if there's some advice you could share.

Thanks in advance,

desertViking

try setting the log level to debug in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf. then restart cups and try again to see if you get any useful error messages. i take it you can ping the machine and connect to shares and everything, e.g., the other networking is okay? what happens if you configure the printer with the cups web interface (localhost:631)?

Yes, I can browes to the server shares, so the LAN is ok. I'll try the suggestions to obtain a log.

Thx
