Configure Wireless Card
 

Well, after much searching, compiling, and cursing, I finally got the power ligh of my wireless card (lsusb - 0x0d4e/0x1000) to work using the drivers at http://orinoco-usb.alioth.debian.org/ (any other drivers I tried would not work, including the version at nongnu.org/orinoco) but now im not sure how to configure it. I'm pretty usre its not working correctly, because whenever I run iwconfig the terminal freezes, and everytimg I open Kwifimanager/config (I dont remember what the name is, but it was something like that) it freezes, so any help would be appreciated.

What model of card is it? Telling me what it says in lsusb is, unfortunately, not very useful for finding a driver. Knowing the model, however, somebody can find the chipset that drives it, and with that, tell you what you need to get it working.

Also, what other drivers have you tried?

the model would be an Agere Wireless USB Card Model 0801 manufactured by Motorola, and the drivers I used where the cvs version of the Orinoco drivers (which support usb models, unlike the ones included in the kernel) which can be found http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/orinoco/ (the project page for http://www.nongnu.org/orinoco)

I've goten the drivers (as far as I have seen, they are the only drivers for my card), they compiled correctly and sent power to my card, but the problem is that when the card is on, iwconfig freezes the console when run, and Kwifimanager freezes on startup if the card is on, so im not exactly sure what to do about that.

It is an Orinoco chipset, but I'm afraid that USB is a little out of my expertise.

It claims to explicitly support that particular card. It's an RPM source, but you can easily fix that with rpm2tgz.

Did you try the linux-wlan-ng drivers?

the linux-wlan-ng drivers are for the prism chipset, and did not work when i tried them.

and as for the ones located at http://folk.uio.no/oeysteio/orinoco-usb/, those rpms are built off the drivers im using, and they do not have any built for my kernel, so they are of no use.
