configure widescreen with ati radeon 9000igp (toshiba satellite p35)

can any one tell me how to configure my widescreen on toshiba satellite p35. it has an ati radeon 9000 igp grphix card with 128mb of shared memory.

have tried using the proprietry drivers available on the ati site. could not do much with it.

which resolution do you want/support? 1280x800? 1440x900?

Is the 9000igp listed as being supported by the ATI proprietary driver?

After running aticonfig --initial, were you still able to get into X Window?

Take a look at your Xorg.conf.log at /var/log and see if your GPU chipset is listed in the log.

I'm only sharing this with you because I recently bought an ATI X1300 card. ATI still has not released a Linux Catalyst driver that supports the X1000 series cards. It's been 6 months and counting since the X1000s have been out. So, I'm hoping for an updated driver any time soon.
