zhoun,

I agree that fcitx is much easier than scim.

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fcitx

I have got it installed and running - and no problems with Firefox.

However, I find the input and the control panel ridiculously too small - is there any way that they can be changed and enlarged?

Harry,

Didn't read your entire thread because we're about to leave for Dali.

We used to have to rebuild all of X and more just to get a Chinese
desktop in Slackware (pre-12.0). Alien Bob took the lead after my request
and has done a wonderful job with SCIM and Chinese input. However, you
should just upgrade to Slackware-12.1 (saves all the hoops for 12.0) and
follow CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT. It works very well, and there is a default
font (WenQuanYiZenHei) that is acceptable, though not as good as Song
fonts.

I'll wait for your reply ....

I will start a new thread since name similarities are causing confusion.
