Compiz/Beryl

A while back I upgraded from slackware-current to slackware 12.0. The reason for downloading current was that I wanted to try out the compiz/beryl effects in KDE. After a bit of jiggery-pokery I was able to get it working. Although I'm not entirely confident it was the correct way.

Is it normal in the slackware install with KDE to have to use the conf files to configure it? I was never able to get the Beryl manager to work in KDE. It always complained about not being able to get DBUS running properly even though it was running and was active.

So yeah, is that normal for slackware?
