compiling programs on zipslack

hallo to all tech gurus,

i have latest zipslack and trying to compile some programs with make.

first i needed to install make package, then i've tried to install gcc pacgage,
but i still get error after make command (makefile comes with the program)

cc: bad command or file name (something like that

can somebody help, where i can find package with such "cc"? it's perhaps c
compiler, but i don't know. gcc package does not contain "cc"

thanks in advance,
gumariner.

I think 'cc' is a link to gcc. Make it : 'ln -s [link2be made] [file2be linked to]'.

Usually there is a "configure" before a make - and the configure will find the "gcc". If there really isn't a "configure" to run ... try this way first:

% CC=gcc make

This will set the environment variable CC, which most makefiles will use, and if this works, then you wouldn't have modified your "out of box" environment (which is something I try to avoid as much as possible).

thanks guys for help. have tried both, but had no luck. it seems like it tries to compile something, but it ends with many screens of errors :-( the distribution is working, because i know that many people use it.

i will have to try install full linux, but must obtain bigger drive :-(
