Compiling libreoffice 4.2

I downloaded libreoffice from source on their website and when I run the makeinstall.sh it tells me I don't have a jdk installed

Quote:

checking for java... no
checking the installed JDK... configure: error: Java not found. You need at least jdk-1.5, or gcj-4
Error running configure at ./autogen.sh line 209.

I have jdk installed. I'm not too sure if I have to edit the autogen file or what? It seems like on different posts I see people having problems at this part.. but a lot of times their errors seem to be mistakes that I haven't missed.

have you read this post by AlienBob:

http://alien.slackbook.org/blog/comp...es-is-a-bitch/

BTW, you do know that you can get ready packages of LibreOffice from him, right?

burgler09 02-04-2014 04:03 AM

Yeah, I did read that article. I was just trying to see if I could get it compiled on my own.. but I suppose if he's having troubles I shouldn't even bother xD

I'll try running an old version and using his slackbuild. However, do you have any idea what could cause that error?

did you by any chance install jdk just before your attempt of compiling LibreOffice?

If so, try logging out and then in.

Sometimes you just gotta realise that the hard way just isn't worth it. This is not always the case, and much pleasure can be derived from saying "There - I did it !". This is NOT one of those times. Just download AlienBob's packages and be done with it.

Nope, I have to use Java for my work so it was actually the first thing I installed. I don't have any clue as to why it would say I don't have jdk. I thought maybe there could be something wrong in the path on the .sh file but I opened it up on nano and didn't really see much.

You're probably right

So you downloaded Oracle's JDK and ran the SlackBuild from extra on it. Which version of JDK did you download. I've used JDK 1.7.0_40.

Really, compiling Libreoffice isn't worth it unless you intend to do some developing or bug fixing.

You guys made me think about it, you were right. Downloaded the slackbuild and had it done in 5 minutes.

I think I'm going to run a LFS on my other computer
