Compiling kernel for Athlon64

CPU : Athlon64 2800+ (1801mhz)
MBO: FoxConn (Nforce3)

getting linux to 64bit?

I compiled kernel as always but the x86_x64 folder (there is no image).

Only in i386 i can find bzimage

kernel version 2.6.13.2

I checked K8 Athlon64 and generic x_86 for the CPU.

typing arch i get
i686

while compiling module for my VGA Ati9600 PRO driver says : x86

plus on dmesg i dont get my cpu listed it only list x86 processor......

thank you

Your kernel has been optimised for the A64 CPU but still is only 32bits.

Its a lot more complex to compile the kernel for 64bit
