Check out that "firefox" script. The different sections have good comments, so it's easy to see which part of the script is responsible for checking whether an instance of FF is already running.
My bash scripting skills aren't all that great, so I don't know whether all of that could be commented out or if something could just be changed. I also don't know if there would be any other consequences to changing this behavior. But maybe you'll be able to experiment and see if you can't make it work as you'd like.

CTRL N for new window, CTRL T for new tab
I do alot of code testing here and there, and i like seperating my work from my normal browsing. I have 2 virtual terminals, and like having more than one FF browser open.. sometimes three or four, divided between them.
I also have a few other reasons. It used to work between FF 1.0 and 1.0.4.
Hmm, thanks.. somehow i had the completly opposite idea of these two parameters...
And i wonder why i'm getting this weird section on the bottom of FF now that i've reinstalled with a different package ?! http://xushi.co.uk/xushi/sv/ff2.jpg
Heh.. nevermind.. a few compiles later and it seemed to have worked. And after comparing it with the one from LP.. there's really not that much of a difference (except the effort taken to compile)
