Compiling aterm with AfterStep themes support

I've tried following the instructions at http://aterm.sourceforge.net/themes.php#compiling for compiling aterm with AfterStep support. I have tried installing both the AfterStep 1.8.x and 1.9.x libaries as instructed on that page, and I still get this when I run configure in the aterm source directory:
Code:
Configuration:

  Aterm version: 0.4.2 : 06 September 01
  Source code location: .
  Install path: /usr/local/bin
  Compiler: gcc
  Compiler flags: -O
    without any AfterStep integration.

  Transparency : enabled
  Off focus fading : disabled

  malloc support: system default

The following are set in config.h

  utmp support: disabled

  Type of 16bit: short
          32bit: int
          pointer: (same as) int

*** Please check src/feature.h for further options ***
Notice that it says, "without any AfterStep integration."

It's supposed to say something like:
Code:
      AfterStep libraries: -lafterstep -lasimage
       with AfterStep headers installed,
       with AfterStep MyStyles support available
Is there something I am forgetting? Because I can't see what I am doing wrong here.

Have you tried looking at configure --help?

Usually you need to enter something like
./configure --enable-afterstep

Or something of the sort.

--enable-aftersteplibs is I think what you're looking for.

Hope this is still needed. I was looking around for aterm stuff myself and would like to be a helpful newbie...
