Compiler

What would be the min install if I would like to compile source code? What package would I need?

It depends on the language you want to compile - probably gcc.

I like to compile: abiword-2.0.6.tar,gftp-2.0.17.tar,gnumeric-1.3.0.tar,and a few other.
