Compaq Deskpro PIII-866

Hi all,

I'm trying to get slackware running on my PIII compaq deskpro. It installs fine, but I can't get the X server to run even though the latest Fedora test 2 has no problems running X.

I believe the chipset is an intel i815. I've tried googling but no joy. Any suggestions? Is there further information I post to help the trouble shooting?

you might need to re-compile a kernel and make sure it includes support for the i815 chipset........

I was thinking as much...a good chance to try out a custom 2.6 I guess!

Obviously the guide posted on this forum is a good starting point, but are there any other slackware-specific tips from experience?
