Command prompt shown as "u@h:w~$"

Today, I noticed that command prompt after login shown as "u@h:w~$". Before this, it was like "phys@Slackware$" including my user and host name. I have not directly changed any settings that would affect this. How can I fix the problem?

Thanks...

You are running ksh or something alike with bash environment variables ("$PS1" in particular).

/etc/profile's PS1 setting code is a little broken. PS1 really shouldn't be being exported for a start, and the conditional stuff based on $SHELL is also unreliable.

I rip it all out. Instead, I set a bash specific PS1 in ~/.bashrc
