Hi,

I'm looking for an audio player that integrates well into KDE. I've tested everything from XMMS and Audacious to JuK and Amarok. Now I've just discovered Clementine, which is basically Amarok 1.4, and it seems to have just the right blend of functionality without getting over-complicated.

If you use Clementine regularly, what are your experiences with it, especially regarding stability? Is it solid or does it produce the odd crash?

I am a huge audio buff and I have Clementine installed on Slackware64 but unfortunately use it seldom. I find that the quality of sound that comes out of the app is sub-standard when compared to Audacious (my personal choice) or gmusicbrowser with all the plugins (my second choice). Audacious simply has the best audio, gmusicbrowser has a great eq and the interface is damn near perfect for an audio buff.

The only reason I have Clementine installed is because it has visualizations and I find that very rare in the Slackware world. As far as crashes... I have never seen Clementine crash on my machine.

While looking for a lightweight player (I eventually started using cmus) I've found exaile to be pretty great. I don't know much about clementine.

I use Clementine and Qmmp (Audacious in Qt). Clementine is stable - no issues for me. I think most users will like its GUI.
Playing through a good sound system Qmmp/Audacious does have a cleaner sound. For most desktop setups and users I doubt that is noticeable, however. For a typical desktop system with closely spaced speakers, the effects plugins in Qmmp/Audacious improves the stereo separation and IMHO is a nice effect. I like the smaller footprint of Qmmp/Audacious also.
