chrome occupied much of CPU in slackware14.0

I'm now using Slackware14.0 and I installed the chrome package from slackware13.37. But after launching chrome, it always occupied much of the CPU.

Is there chrome for slackware14.0? Why is chrome not in the offical packages like firefox? It's so widely used though.

You should build newer version of Chrome as it tends to fix problems found in earlier version, including memory consumption

Sorrry I don't know how to get the source of chrome or chromium, it's hard to google it and get it……
I tried to use rpm2tgz to convert the newest chrome rpm package and it also consumed much of CPU, always more than 100%.
Now I use chromium19.0.1039.0, it comes from a package that was compiled on Slackware13.37. It now works ok.

If I want to use the latest chrome browser, what's a better way to do it? Modifying a slackbuild script to make a package or just using rpm2tgz to convert the rpm package?

Are you using chrome or chromium? that's two different project, even though they originally came from Google

The direct links have changed along with version 22. For example the i386 one is now located at:

https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/g...rrent_i386.deb

flyer103, you get the SlackBuild from here:
http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackwar...google-chrome/
then download the .deb file from the link above, run the .SlackBuild file to get the Slackware package for Chrome.

Chrome and Chromium are both ok. Thank you, willysr :)
