Checks during bootup??

Hey I just installed a minimal slack10 on an old Toshiba Satellite 315CDT (Pentium MMX 200MHz, 32 MB Ram, 2 GB HD)

Everytime I boot it runs a fsck check on the installion drive. Also, it gives a message about "Updating module dependancies for Linux 2.4.26"

and it sits there for like 45 seconds or more... What is it doing?

Is you root fs ext2 ? I would think system run fsck and depmod -a, but it can be another thing... Try to note the step before and after the message then refer to /etc/rc.d/* files to see what happen.

fsck is run from /etc/rc.d/rc.S
depmod is run from /etc/rc.d/rc.modules
