changing the icon for Firefox
Okay silly question. When I run Firefox, the icon in the upper left corner isn't the Firefox logo, just the generic X logo. How can I change that?

No, upper left (at least with the window decorations I use in KDE). It's a menu, where you can send to different desktops and so on. And in the task bar, the X shows next to the website name, just like the gaim program I'm running right now has a little yellow figure next to it.

Ah! My window decoration doesn't have that icon. I just tried another one and saw what you were talking about. I can't help you. My firefox icon is ok but I don't know why

Are you using the GTK1 or 2 build? I don't know why, but I had the same problem until the GTK2 builds started coming out, and it's been fine since. If you're using the GTK1 version, try the GTK2

I am having this same problem and its been pissing me off for months now! I'm just too lazy to look into fixing it. How does one tell which build they are running without redownloading and recompiling..?
Thanks

You should be able to tell by the widgets which version of GTK Fx is using.
