changing settings help

Hello everyone,

i am new to slackware....i've been using fc1 and fc2 which you guys know does a graphical installation. I was able to installed slack10 but now i have to change some setting and can find where they are located.

1. i want to change from kde to GNOME or xfce, how do i do this?

2. lilo did not install in mbr as i specified but i am able to boot from floppy.

my hd:

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdb1 * 1 6374 51199123+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hdb2 6375 9414 24414264 83 Linux
/dev/hdb3 9414 9536 976752 82 Linux swap
root@darkstar:~#

LILO: i deleted some vesa lines to make short, HOW do tell make lilo bootable?
# LILO configuration file
# generated by 'liloconfig'
#
# Start LILO global section
lba32 # Allow booting past 1024th cylinder with a recent BIOS
boot = /dev/hdb
message = /boot/boot_message.txt
prompt
timeout = 1200
# Override dangerous defaults that rewrite the partition table:
change-rules
reset
# VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x256
vga = 773
# Normal VGA console
# vga = normal
# VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x64k
# vga=791
# End LILO global section
# Windows bootable partition config begins
other = /dev/hdb1
label = W2K
table = /dev/hdb
# Windows bootable partition config ends

3. i also want to start x automatically, where do i add init 5 to xorg conf and which one is it? can you provide the path of file?

i already setup my dsl connection and i will install my nvidia drievers later...

ONE thing i noticed, it is a lot faster than mdk and fc2, huh!!

thanks for your help!!

1) xwmconfig
2) liloconfig
3) /etc/inittab it's init level not 4, inside the file you'll realize, it's very well commented like most of the config files

Welcome to Slackware

The most controversial question among slackers:
a) slapt-get
b) swaret
c) other options?

I personally don't trust swaret.

Try "poweroff", or "halt".
