changing ls colors


hey guys how do i change the ls colors?

hmmm intresting cause when i searched for DIR_COLORS it came up with nothing. the command i used was
find / DIR_COLORS
is that right?

not quite ... did it spew a million files in your face? :)

locate DIR_COLORS

or

find / -name DIR_COLORS

That's about modifying the prompt, not
the coloured output of ls ...

sorry to post this pointless bit of info, but I was gettin frustrated I didnt have it on my computer when i did
locate DIR_COLORS

but then i realized i had typed DIR_COLOURS (I am canadian)

hehee......ahhhh...american spelling will be the death of me...
