changing login from root to a regular user

I have slackware 10.0 installed on my system and I have been logging in as root, now I am trying to use winesetupTk and this program requires me to login as a regular user, how could I add a user so I will not be logging in as root?

# adduser new_user_name
# passwd new_user_name
# exit

login as new_user_name

Hmmm... Did it give any errors with the adduser or passwd commands?

Is there a new entry in /home/ ?

I don't use Slack, so I don't know for sure, but that's pretty much the standard for any distro I've seen.

As root run:
deluser user_name
for whatever you created above. Then remove any new directory in /home.
then just run
adduser
by itself and answer the prompts. This will create the directory in /home, etc.
