Changing Framebuffer Console Resolution

Ok, I'm running Slackware on a laptop that's got quite a bit of screen real-estate, and while installing 10.2 I chose to go with the highest resolution available there. Thing is, I would like to up the resolution even further, maybe to 1400x1050 or so, just so I can get a little bit more to see on the screen when reading through something or compiling. It looks like this is something set up in lilo to begin with, but nothing is said of going beyond 1024x768 in the config file. Can anyone give me some info on modifying this?

Thanks

You can try it by entering the vga=??? option when you boot (when it asks for extra parameters)

Knowing your hardware specs and some info about your config would be useful. Also, ive rarely ever seen something that required a bigger resolution than 1280x1024. Standard vga coding would mean adding a vga=0x31B to your kernel boot line.

Mebrelith, do you have any links to the method for determining the standard VGA codings?

I learned those while using Gentoo, check the Gentoo handbook.
