Changing enviroments for X in Slackware 9.1

I'm having a really annoying problem right now, when I start X (I am using KDE) a message comes up saying: "Could not start kdeinit. Check your installation." Since I'm totally new to Linux, I haven't got a clue as to what that means. Anyway, when I click ok, the system locks up and I have to restart the system. Is there a fix for this?

If not, how do I switch to a different desktop enviroment? I once saw a command that brought me to the window that lets you choose the default desktop for X. I just cant find it again...please help

I don't know how to fix your problem with kde, but the command to configure you xwindow manager is "xwmconfig" Just type that from a prompt and it'll allow you to select another wm.

If you're using a gui login, you should be able to click on the session button and change your wm there.

hope this helps.

edit: here's a link to a previous thread about changing your wm. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=128659
