Changing Computer Name
Just a quick question. When Linux orgianlly setup, it had my computer name as Darkstar. So when i get to login promt it would say: Darkstar Login.
Or user@darkstar so. When Slackware installed in network config I typed in my website name as host and domain names and now that login shows websitename login: and user@websitename how do I change the name back to Darkstar because I like that name so much hehe :D |
With hostname, do "man hostname" to see the options and switches.
|
and from there I will be able to change it back to the default(Darkstar)?(sorry, can't get on my linux rig till tomorrow. parents place too many restrictions hehe)
|
I put that on the other thread, but you can edit the one line file /etc/HOSTNAME.
The command hostname, only changes that until reboot. Cheers, Finegan |
