According to http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/docbo...l/chap-bg.html I should be able to change my background by adding

session.screen0.rootCommand: fbsetbg -f ~/somebg.bmp

to my ~/.fluxbox/init file. However that does not work for me.

So i tried running fbsetup from the command line and that gives me command not found.

Also, I tried xsetroot, which runs but apperently my background is "too complex" and just gives a blank background.

Suggestions?

Oh, I'm using slack 9.1 with the standard fluxbox package 9.1 came with. Can't remember the version of flux off hand and can't check at the moment.

Should be somewhere in your path.

Anyway, if you want fbsetbg, the shell script is here.

haven't tried bsetbg....i was assuming that was for blackbox and didn't exist for flux (even thought i know flux is based on blackbox). When i get home, i"ll try that first and if not i will get that script.
