Change hostname

It could be a trivial question .... but I would like to change my hostname.

I tryed with

hostname new_host_name
as root but when I restart the machine on prompt I still see the old

You've to edit the file /etc/HOSTNAME nothing else

edit /etc/hosts
edit /etc/HOSTNAME
hostname desiredname
