Is there any reason for you to change ? Most likely if you switch to DHCP ( and if your provider allows it since they are giving you a static ) you might end up with the same IP and usually at times keep it for a very long time before it changes. Just because it's dynamic doesn't mean it always changes.
What type of connection are you on ? DSL, Cable...etc ?

Gidday!

From what I understand you have a network at home using
static IPs. The file you're looking at for modifciations is basically
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 ... and as I assume you're dragging your machine
along without it being hooked-up to a UPS you don't have to worry
about stopping/starting services ... :)

Cheers,
Tink
