cdrom won't work anymore
my cdrom worked with 10.0 kernel 2.4.26 but now that Im trying the slackware 10.1 beta or whatever it is......it wont work
forest# mount /mnt/cdrom
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
forest# dmesg | tail
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 64
isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev=16:00, iso_blknum=16, block=32
hdc: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdc: command error: error=0x54
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 64
isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev=16:00, iso_blknum=16, block=32
hdc: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }

In Slackware..............it is usually /dev/cdrom
which is usually a symlink to /dev/hdc

That doesn't seem to be the problem. It knows that your DVD device is /dev/hdc. Are you having problems with all CDs and DVDs or just this one? Can you post the output of lsmod

Yes you can.
man mount:
"When mounting a file system mentioned in fstab, it suffices to give only the device, or only the mount point."

The fstab had it, that's why you see the device name here..
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
It seems the cd or drive is getting flakey, or maybe dirty.
Some cd's normally those written at high speed are problems for some drives.
