cdrecord doesnt see my ATAPI CD-RW

I am trying to get my CD-RW working and I've tried to follow this guide, CD-R HOWTO but I can't seem to make cdrecord find my drive.

This is the output of cdrecord -scanbus:
Code:
bash-3.00# cdrecord -scanbus
Cdrecord-Clone 2.01 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2004 Jörg Schilling
cdrecord: Warning: Running on Linux-2.6.13
cdrecord: There are unsettled issues with Linux-2.5 and newer.
cdrecord: If you have unexpected problems, please try Linux-2.4 or Solaris.
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg*'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'.
cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.
Here is some boot messages pertaining to the CD-RW drive...
Code:
May 25 00:48:44 Lynx kernel: hdc: ATAPI 24X DVD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 2048kB Cache, DMA
May 25 00:48:44 Lynx kernel: Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20
I can mount and read CD's and DVD's no problem, its the burning part I can not figure out.

Any help with this will be appreciated, thanks.

(this problem is with my laptop...see below)

Thanks that works perfectly, but when i try to mount a CD after burning it says I must specify a filesystem type. If i try to mount a diffrent CD-R that was made by someone else it doesnt give me that error and it mounts fine. I used this command to burn the CD

Code:
cdrecord dev="/dev/cdrom" -audio -pad 01-nofx-60_percent.mp3
I am only using 1 small mp3 to test with for speed's sake.

I assume I am not burning it correctly and thats why it isnt mounting.

Also i tried:
Code:
cdrecord -v dev="/dev/cdrom" NOFX.iso
and when i tried to mount it i had no errors, but when i tried to cd to it, it said that /dev/cdrom is not a directory

when you used option of -audio, you should have burned an audio CD which does not have a filesystem and thus you cannot mount it.

Correct. You just play it.
Same with DVD's.

Don't mount either of them first.

If you burn the cd as a data disk, then you can mount it. If you burn as a audio cd, it cannot be mounted (Try to mount a commercial audio cd, you'll see what I mean)EDIT***As long as it is a pure audio cd, not one of those freaking 'hybrid' disks....shudder

Ok it turns out that trying to cd to /dev/cdrom was my problem, the cdrom mounts to /mnt/cdrom so my problem is solved, thanks for the help everyone.
